Stone & Oil
Driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces.
Stone and oil driveways, grading, and excavating for Seneca Falls and the Seneca River.
Also called stone and oil, tar and chip, or chip seal.
Canal Town
Seneca Falls is a Seneca County town built along the Seneca River and the canal system, best known as the site of the 1848 women's rights convention. The village sits on flat ground near the water, with older homes on compact lots and farmland spreading out around it.
Flat ground near water holds moisture, so drainage comes first. We set the pitch and the edges so water has somewhere to go, compact the base, and then apply the oil and stone.
Services
In the village, driveways are short and lots are tight, so we plan access and staging before the day of the job. Stone and oil is also available for parking lots, and we work with residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

The Process
We set the pitch for drainage and compact a gravel base. Our dump trucks remove dirt and debris from the site.
Hot oil goes down over the compacted base and binds the surface together.
Small stone is spread over the oil and rolled into place for a natural stone finish.
Where We Work
From the village of Seneca Falls and the roads along the river, we cover the Seneca Falls area, including Waterloo, Geneva, and Cayuga.
Questions
Oil and stone is also called stone and oil, tar and chip, or chip seal. We compact a gravel base, apply hot oil, spread small stone over it, and roll it into place. The result keeps a natural stone look and is a cost effective alternative to asphalt.

No. Oil and stone does not need regular sealing.
It handles freeze and thaw cycles well. If you plow, keep the blade just above the surface and finish with a shovel. Snowblowers are fine on oil and stone surfaces.

Stone Kote was not only professional but they did an outstanding job on our driveway. Their price was competitive and our driveway went from a loose stone mud pit to a level and new driveway. We would highly recommend this company!
