Stone & Oil
Driveways, parking lots, and other surfaces.
Oil and stone driveways, grading, and excavating for Endwell and the Town of Union in Broome County.
Also called stone and oil, tar and chip, or chip seal.
Town of Union Hamlet
Endwell is a hamlet in the Town of Union, between Endicott and Johnson City, and much of it is residential streets with driveways of every length. Some lots are flat and others sit on the slopes above the river valley.
Whatever the lot, the surface is only as good as what is under it. We check the base and the pitch first, fix what needs fixing, and then build the oil and stone surface on a compacted gravel base.
Services
We are based in Greene, a short drive up Route 12, so site visits are easy to schedule. We measure the drive and quote it from the prep work and the square footage, and the quote is free.

The Process
We set the pitch for drainage and compact a gravel base. Our dump trucks remove dirt and debris from the site.
Hot oil goes down over the compacted base and binds the surface together.
Small stone is spread over the oil and rolled into place for a natural stone finish.

Questions
Oil and stone is also called stone and oil, tar and chip, or chip seal. We compact a gravel base, apply hot oil, spread small stone over it, and roll it into place. The result keeps a natural stone look and is a cost effective alternative to asphalt.

No. Oil and stone does not need regular sealing.
It handles freeze and thaw cycles well. If you plow, keep the blade just above the surface and finish with a shovel. Snowblowers are fine on oil and stone surfaces.

Stone Kote was not only professional but they did an outstanding job on our driveway. Their price was competitive and our driveway went from a loose stone mud pit to a level and new driveway. We would highly recommend this company!
